A classic pattern that never goes out of style.

This board is made from end-grain blocks of rich, dark ebony and warm, golden rubberwood. Its bold checkerboard pattern turns everyday chopping into something special. It’s a real showpiece, beautiful enough to leave out on the bench and sturdy enough for daily use.

Ebony is one of the densest, most prized hardwoods in the world. Rubberwood is a tough, sustainable timber that’s popular for kitchenware. Together they make a board that’s as strong as it is striking.

End grain means the wood fibres face upward, so your knife slips between them instead of cutting across them. That’s gentler on your knife edges and helps the surface hide cut marks over time.

A juice groove around the edge catches drips from meat, fruit and tomatoes, keeping your benchtop clean. At 2.5 cm thick, every size sits solid and steady while you work. It’s finished without paint or wax, so you see the natural beauty of the timber.

Comes with a free board stand, so it can stand upright to dry and stay on display.

Every board is one of a kind

Each board is made from natural timber, so the grain, colour and the odd knot will vary from piece to piece. That's the beauty of real wood. The board you receive will be uniquely yours and may look slightly different from the photos.

Questions, answered

End grain or edge grain: what's the difference?

End-grain boards are made from blocks with the wood fibres facing up, like the top of a bundle of straws. Your knife slips between the fibres, so they're the gentlest on your blades and hide cut marks well.

Edge-grain boards show the long, flowing grain of the timber. They're lighter, slimmer and easier to move around, which makes them perfect for everyday prep and serving.

Which oil should I use?

Any food-safe board oil or food-grade mineral oil works well. Avoid cooking oils like olive or vegetable oil, as they can turn rancid over time.

Is it safe to cut raw meat on a wooden board?

Yes. Wash the board with hot soapy water straight after use and dry it standing upright. Many cooks keep one board for raw meat and another for fruit, vegetables and bread.

Can I put my board in the dishwasher?

Please don't. The heat and water in a dishwasher can warp or crack natural timber. A quick hand wash and dry is all it needs.

Will my board look exactly like the photos?

Very close, but not identical. Every board is cut from natural timber, so the grain and colour are unique to your piece.

Does it make a good gift?

A beautiful board is a gift that gets used every single day. If you're buying for Christmas, order early so it arrives in time.
